I always rely on Obermeyer for great outdoor snow jackets and pants. They feel durable and thick. They do run large though. My daughter is a fairly average sized just-barely-5- year old. She wears little kids size 4 or size 5T. The pants are the perfect length and can be lengthened later if needed with the i-grow feature. The straps are a bit long even when tightened all the way, but I think the jacket should keep them in place. Should get a good 2 winters out of these!
